Automated overdue invoice collection for SMBs

“I'm curious how different companies handle cash application when a customer sends a check/ACH with remittance advice listing multiple POs or invoices. At my company, I have to manually go from the remittance > PO > invoice > payment application, and I'm wondering how common that workflow is. Do you: manually search for each invoice? export to Excel? use an ERP/AR automation tool? have something that automatically matches the remittance to open invoices? And if your system *doesn't* find a match, what does that process look like? I'm not selling anything, just genuinely trying to understand how other AR teams handle this.”
