The gap
EV owners need precise control over charging schedules to optimize for electricity costs and remote management. Volvo Cars and Toyota provide unreliable timers or lack the ability to manually start/stop charging remotely.
What people say
“We've had the Volvo app a few years....at times it works well but too often it just doesn't want to work. The charging timer is just hit and miss. The only way to stop it is to go out and unplug it. We've tried turning off the timer and resetting...but it just doesn't work. I've now resorted to setting a timer on my phone and going out to plug in before bed!!! So glad I'm paying for the service!! It seems to be every time they do an update it makes the app worse. It's not improving the apps use.”
Charging timer is unreliable, forcing the user to manually plug in the vehicle.
