The gap

IT professionals need a way to remotely view and control mobile devices to support non-technical users. Current solutions lack a 'backstage' mode for troubleshooting without interrupting the user, especially after security breaches.

“Hey Sysadmins, Following the latest Connectwise security breach our IT director has asked the Endpoint team to look at alternative Remote Access solutions. While we're not actually using the Cloud backup services, the director isn't comfortable sticking with Connectwise as an organisation, and I can't say I blame him. That said, ScreenConnect has a lot of functionality including the backstage feature that's been incredibly useful for me for quietly troubleshooting issues on devices without bothering users. I'm about to evaluate whether we can replace the Remote Access capabilities of SC with the built in Intune Remote Help feature that now comes with our E5 Licensing (can't say I'm too hopeful...), and I'd like to get the lay of the land of what else is available that's a bit more feature-rich than Remote Help. We have around 1000 users and 1000 Hybrid-Joined devices, and we're in a tightly-regulated industry with more than 20 sites spread across the UK and EU. Ideally any solutions we'd look at would be capable of being run on-prem to limit the potential of supply chain attacks if possible. Do any of you have experience migrating away from ScreenConnect towards anything else? I'm seeing Splashtop, BeyondTrust and NinjaOne all mentioned as options and I'd appreciate your advice on what's worked for you. https://www.bleepingcomputer.com/news/security/hackers-breach-microsoft-365-tenants-via-connectwise-supply-chain-attack/”

“This applies both for my professional and my private environment: I often have to support people who aren’t super tech savvy with stuff on their phones. So it would be really helpful if I could mirror their screen and have them do stuff under my supervision or maybe even control the phone myself. Is there a way to do this ad-hoc, or maybe with a downloadable app? Thanks a lot in advance!”
